Behaviour Policy
We have high expectations about behaviour and conduct in our academy. We are committed to promoting good behaviour, which underpins a climate of safety. We believe that good behaviour needs to be carefully developed throughout the academy.
We believe that young people learn best when they are clear about what is expected of them and are clear about what they are supposed to do. Having a consistent system throughout the academy means that children are fully aware of what is expected.
The Behaviour Policy operates for all children throughout the academy. It is based on the children observing a few simple rules – Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe – which are intended to help each child develop a sense of responsibility for his/her actions and a caring and considerate attitude towards other people.
Good behaviour is recognised and rewarded in a number of ways. This includes teachers contacting parents with a good news phone call when a child’s behaviour has been particularly remarkable.
By identifying, praising and rewarding positive aspects of behaviour, we minimise instances of poor behaviour. There is a scale of sanctions for unacceptable behaviour. The first is always a warning and explanation to the child. Parents will always be informed and consulted if a child regularly misbehaves.
The Behaviour policy and Anti Bullying policy can be viewed via the links below. These policies are reviewed annually.
If you feel your child is being bullied your first port of call would be to contact their CLASS teacher. If you feel that things have still not been dealt with you then refer your concerns to a DSL:
Miss Sally Scott (EYFS and Year 1)
Mr Hodges (Year 2 - 6)
They will then escalates to stage 6 if their investigations show the need. Mrs Shaw will then become involved and meet with the parents.
Cyber Bullying-
We take cyber bullying extremely seriously at Shibden Head although sometimes matters that are beyond our control may need to be dealt with by the police. We have thorough teachings of online safety through Project Evolve, Purple Mash and SCARF. If a child chooses to make a wrong choice parents will be in formed, if the wrong choices keep happening then school will seek advice from external agencies such as: Early Help and Social Care.
Please monitor your child's online activity - you are responsible of your child's actions on their devices at home.
Any concerns you have about misuse please contact a DSL at school for some advice.
