Charging and Remissions
By law it is forbidden to charge for the provision of education during school hours but charges may be made for the following:
• music tuition (guitar, woodwind and keyboard lessons are available for Years 3/4/5/6 delivered by the Bradford Music Service)
• board and lodging where a school activity involves a residential element
• optional extras e.g. clubs and extra curricular activities.
Remission of Charges
Pupils whose parents are in receipt of certain support payments maybe eligible for the remission of charges or reduced charges. Examples of this include school uniform voucher and reduced charge for longer residential visits for children in receipt of free school meals.
Where families are experiencing financial difficulties, governors invite parents to apply in confidence for the remission or reduced charges. Please speak to our Pastoral Lead - Sue Parnaby -if you have any enquiries about this.
Voluntary contributions
Voluntary contributions will generally be sought from parents/carers for school activities, e.g. trips of an educational nature. If your child is in receipt of Pupil Premium funding please speak to Miss Harrison (Deputy Head) for more information on this.
If insufficient contributions are received for trips, an activity may not be viable and may have to be cancelled. We thank our parents/carers for supporting such activities by making voluntary contributions, ensuring that children at Shibden Head gain from a variety of experiences which we might otherwise be unable to run.
